I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of David McLean, OBC, LLD ’94. David and his family’s generosity, particularly through the David and Brenda McLean Family Chair in Canadian Studies, has had a lasting impact on the program, enabling vital research on Canada to reach UBC students, researchers, policymakers, and the public. I am grateful for David’s visionary philanthropy and honored to continue his family’s legacy in the Faculty of Arts. On behalf of the Canadian Studies program, I join President Benoit-Antoine Bacon and Dean Clare Haru Crowston in extending our heartfelt condolences to the McLean family.
